Actually it really just all situtational. if you are LP even early on your range should be wider. Obviously the hand he should are a great guideline to build an EP strategy ep is early position. If you are playing tons of hands in EP then you’ll ultimately go broke in the long run just because you’ll consistently be putting yourself at a disadvantage.

Why do you need to play tight at the start? I think you should play small pocket pairs to try and hit a set or suited connectors whilsts its cheap enough because if you catch the right flop you can double up and your not risking much to do so. And when you loosen up at the end is that because your getting short handed or is it talking about a mmt.

The two key points he misses are
a) Pots odds are much more important in a cash game than a tourment.
and
b) stealing the blinds is much more important in a tourment

I’m no Gus Hansen, but I think the style you advocate is way too tight. You wake up with AA once every 221 hands. You can’t wait that long to play a hand early; in big tournaments, you want to build a big stack early or go home, b/c you’ll be left in the dust when tables merge and your stack is short.
